The Art of Moving In

Is it just me, or are you not "fully" moved in until halfway through your lease?
As my husband (then fiance) and I approached our wedding date, we felt the looming cloud of moving day. Having lived separately until marriage, we both had amassed everything an adult could need for life. We weren't broke college kids and therefore, we actually owned things! We also received so many amazing gifts from family and friends - you would not believe the amount of cardboard boxes we have broken down. This volume is a daily blessing and a moving day curse.
I decided to shell out and hire movers this go-around. I thought it would make the process more seamless. While it was a huge help, I had forgotten that unpacking boxes, finding somewhere to throw away said boxes, orienting everything how you want it, and finally buying new pieces takes FOREVER. For any men reading this, if you don't feel like carting your wife around to pick up various Facebook Marketplace items then do not buy a truck.
We have been moved in for almost two months now, but the house is still a mess. I have a few save havens: the guest room, the laundry room, and sometimes the kitchen. I can go to these spots and feel like I have my life together. The second I step into the dining room, the office, the master bedroom and the patio I literally feel my blood pressure rise. I have 1-2 tantrums a week, during which I panic and rage over all that we have left to clean up. I should probably get that checked out...e-mail me at lily@evokinghomewithlily if you have any coping techniques I can use.
Anyway, I don't know if this frustration is a common experience or if it something shared among those who love home decor, cleanliness, and hosting. Please tell me I'm not alone! I know we will eventually have a home I am proud to host in, but I'm having a hard time seeing the traditional/western/eclectic vibe from the rubble of my "get rid of" pile.
I'll see you soon with a blog about some antiques I've purchased for the new place!
Cheers,
Lily
Ahhh... a room finally starting to come together...

Well, shoot.
